The Secret Garden (Le Jardin Secret) is a former palace dating from the 16th century in the old city, lovingly restored by an Italian family and open to the public since 2016 as a museum, café and garden. The green ‘zelij’ tiles are one of our favourite design details along with the beautifully engraved wooden ceilings. The views from the tower looking post are well worth the many steps and stairs to get there.

To celebrate the launch of their new range of colour products including delicious lipsticks and glosses in rich reds and pinks, Clinique flew in beauty bloggers and social media influencers from around the world to the red city of Marrakech.

We have had lots of events and parties at El Fenn recently which is always a pleasure. We can never get bored of the inspiring interiors mixing traditional Moroccan artisans with lots of contemporary touches. Willem Smit the General Manager and interior designer is a wizard with soft furnishings, lighting and colour.

We had a lovely day of wedding planning in the Atlas Mountains at Kasbah Bab Ourika, checking out the best spaces for the ceremony, dinner and after party or boom boom as we call it at Boutique Souk. So many options as there are so many pretty gardens and terraces to choose from, each with a better view than the last. Our favourite was the terrace overlooking the maze garden and the patio terrace with views down in the red Ourika valley.

I am addicted to basket buying – I literally cannot resist, which is a challenge given my job which takes me to the medina and souks every week! Also two of my favourite restaurants are on the Place Des Epices the ancient spice market which also has one of the biggest markets of baskets. Everything from breadbaskets to beach bags and shoppers, there are so many brightly coloured and cheap but chic treats.
